Christina Applegate has criticised new guidelines which suggest only older women should be screened for breast cancer.

Applegate was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 and later announced that she was “100% clear” of the disease after having a double mastectomy.

However, in an interview with Parade, Applegate revealed that she will “fight” the new breast exam guidelines.

“Don’t even get me started,” she said. “Look, I just started to sweat. I get a little angry. I don’t mind being outspoken about that. I think that is the most atrocious thing I’ve ever heard.

“I was 36 years old when I had breast cancer, and you’re going to have people wait until, like, they’re 50 to get screened? It irks my whole body.”

She added: “I’m telling you, it’s not going to happen. We women will fight that as much as we can.”
